Members of SealingTech’s team attended AFCEA’s TechNet Indo-Pac Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii in October. Its theme: “Free-Open-Secure” focused on the critical issues identified by regional military leaders to maintain and protect data and information flow, internally and with regional partners and allies.

The SealingTech Indo-Pac Conference Team (from left to right): Patrick Lenk, Shaun McConnaghy (Parsons), Max Montague (Parsons), Michael De Leon, Jorge Riaza Giraldo, and Courtney Duggan.

At the conference, Michael De Leon, SealingTech Solutions Architect, learned more about the Indo-Pacific specific missions and how they involve different island countries to collaborate and solve common problems. He spoke with several people with different Mission sets around the Pacific including the illegal fishing trade, cyber wargaming, and signals intelligence.

He adds, “I listened to the experiences from different customers and panelists detailing the challenges with the cloud and the need to operate in a more hybrid model to offset cost. This got me thinking about the many ways SealingTech’s solutions can interact with cloud services to save our customers time and money by offloading some computing power to edge devices.”

Bridging the Knowledge Gap with Operator X

Mike was also a guest speaker at the conference, discussing Operator X, a chat interface developed by SealingTech to assist cyber operators in bridging knowledge gaps via the use of cutting-edge generative AI tools and techniques. His presentation: Empowering the Cyber Warfighter: AI Solutions to Safeguard Data engaged the audience and led to a round of inquiries.

“A highlight for me was talking to customers about unique use cases for our hardware and Operator X to see how we can support their missions within and outside of the cyber domain. Many wanted to know how SealingTech went about training the models and proceeded to ask very in-depth technical questions. I enjoyed answering them and wished I had more time for the Q&A part of my presentation. In preparation, I was able to gather a few use cases unique to the Indo-Pacific region. My favorite one outside of cyber involved helping to combat illegal fishing by providing a tool to quickly query different databases via natural language to eliminate complexities in the workflow of the analysts.

In addition to seeing everyone in Hawaiian shirts which was fun,” Mike says, “I got a chance to walk around Waikiki and participate in a SealingTech Team Luau that included these amazing Hawaiian fire dancers. When I visit again, I’d like to make more time to do some interesting hikes.”

Connecting with CPT Operators

Account Manager, Jorge Riaza Giraldo, also found TechNet Indo-Pac an enriching experience. He enjoyed engaging with actual cyber protection team (CPT) operators who actively use SealingTech’s Cyber-Fly-Away Kits. It was especially fulfilling for him to hear firsthand the high level of regard various branches of the military expressed when speaking about the Kits.

Jorge’s time away from the conference included a wild rooster encounter.

Jorge goes on to say, “During discussions with government personnel, I noticed a strong interest in AI models, especially after Mike’s presentation of Operator X. It motivated me to deepen my knowledge in AI and Operator X so I can better serve the needs of prospective customers.”

One trend from the convention Jorge noted was the integration of GPUs in solutions similar to SealingTech’s Cyber-Fly-Away Kit. With their GN 7000 and coming-soon GN 9000 servers already utilizing GPUs, he believes combining them with Operator X will position SealingTech as game-changers in the field.

Outside of the conference, Jorge took advantage of Hawaii’s scenic beauty with a memorable 10-mile walk from his hotel, the Moana Surf Rider, to the top of Diamond Head Mountain. The hike offered breathtaking views, wild chickens in parks (which included an unexpected rooster chase), and the unique experience of spotting local fruit trees. The journey, topped off with some authentic Hawaiian cuisine, made for a perfect sightseeing adventure.

Overall, TechNet Indo-Pac provided the SealingTech team an invaluable opportunity to engage with multiple customers and introduce its innovations to prospective ones. Mike and Jorge will ingest that feedback and share it with the rest of the SealingTech team back home to continually grow and improve their defensive cyber solutions for their customers and continue to protect the warfighter to the fullest.
